How many tool brands can you name!
After years of service it has to be fair to say we've heard of a few brands of tools and the companies associated with DIY. We've even worked for some of the big names and tried and tested a whole boatload of different tools a lot of which basically do the same thing. This section of our website goes into as many well known and some lesser known tool brands which you may or may not have heard of as well as some of the places where to buy them, although we leave some of that for our FAQ's.
Lots of brands really push themselves to create a hard hitting appeal to the do it yourself people out there, many these days are low cost imported tools which serve to copy or lower the cost of acquiring tools today. There's always a trade off with DIY tools as you can follow the big colourful names and pay a premium, buy unbranded goods (which generally doesn't pay off) or strike a balance buying the right tool for the right job. so we are here to suggest some different ideas and give our visitors an overview of which brands have been around a while, which are doing what in R&D and what tools we have in our toolkit.
One of the best ways of knowing which tools are best is of course by recommendation and if you know a plumber, electrician or builder then there is never any harm in clocking what they are using or asking a few questions of what they might recommend for a particular job. To be fair a lot of tradespeople I know either go all out on some branded tools and pack a lot lower on others, so it's a case of finding a balance and buying durable products that will meet the needs of forthcoming projects as well as things you have on immediately. Likewise buying brands for a one off is generally an expensive way of doing things as if you will never use a tool again you might be able to get away with a cheaper alternative.
